V, McGowan's Brigade", enclosure is an "April Fool" letter on embossed paper to a "Southern Soldier", minor toning, Very Fine and attractive. Estimate; $300 - 400.
Azariah J. Boatwright was a Private in Company K, 13th Reg't
S.C.V. He enlisted on Sept. 3, 1861 in Lexington, S.C. for the duration of the war. He was wounded at Gettysburg and captured on July 5th 1863. On July 17th 1863 he was sent to DeCamp Gen'l Hospital, on David's Island in New York Harbor. He was
paroled and exchanged on Aug. 31, 1863. He was again captured on March 31, 1865 at Hatcher's Run, held at Point Lookout, VA and then released on June 24, 1865. (Image1) (Image2)
