I think it is proper to state that he is addicted to getting drunk, at times, so that I would (on that account) not like to warrant him except a slave for life."

After the Civil War, the Ouachita River route from Camden Ark. to New Orleans was not reinstated. Steamboat traffic continued on the river with significant volumes of letters being carried.
