623 o    2 imageChiapas, 1866, Chiapas Provisional, 1r black on green. With blue Chiapas overprint, oval Pichucalco cancel (Schatzkes 127), margins large to slightly in at left, certificate mentions small stain which we find no evidence of, F.-V.F., with 1992 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
Scott No. 2; $850.

Most Chiapas Provisionals are repaired because they were usually closing their covers, this example is not. One of the 37 in NF census, with only 12 had the district overprint. A similar stamp was sold in December 2023 for $2,000 hammer.
