3036       Coil Issue Stock, 1954-2009. Arranged on stock and album pages in binder, includes regular issue pairs, line pairs and strip but also includes many of the good to better imperf coils; starting with the 1854-65 series including imperf 4¢ line pair and 25¢ pair, 1869-74 series with many imperf pairs, similar Americana & Transportation series including imperfs with some Bureau precancels, imperf plate strips, some better normal plate # strips in the Transportation issue, strong other later coils with again many of the imperf errors, etc.; very little duplication, Scott catalog well in excess of $11,000, a nice holding for the coil specialist, o.g., never hinged.

A fascinating collection centralized on one of the 183 original Legends of the West sheets that was sold (for $4,150) just prior to U.S.P.S. Board of Governors announcing the offering of 150,000 of the recalled sheets to the collecting public; the collection includes photocopy of the original ad, buyer letter and check, P.F. application, original letter from the P.F. and certificate, copies of the actual lawsuit filed against the U.S.P.S. attorney letters, appeals filing, etc., also the array of Linn's articles chronicling this story, additional reissued sheets, gutters, cards, etc.
