1893 Columbian Issue continued...
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
2262     244 image1893, $4 Columbian. O.g., very lightly hinged, precision centering amid huge well balanced margins all around, beautiful rich vibrant color and sharp detailed impression on bright fresh paper, an Extremely Fine to Superb jumbo, this being one of only three examples to receiving this jumbo grade with only three examples grading higher (all at 98), with 1990, 2002 P.F. & 2007 and 2021 P.S.E. certificates, the latter two Graded (XF-Sup 95J, SMQ $8,450).
Scott No. 244; $2,100.

A PHENOMENAL JUMBO MARGIN MINT EXAMPLE OF THE $4 COLUMBIAN ISSUE.

The P.S.E. population report records only five stamps receiving a 95J grade in all conditions with one in used condition and another in no gum condition, along with the three o.g. examples. There are no jumbo examples grading higher. This example, being only very lightly hinged and with radiantly rich color is certainly one - if not the finest jumbo mint example extant.
