Apr. 28, 1863" cds with "Due 10" straightline to Little Yadkin N.C., soldier's endorsement from 33rd North Carolina Regiment at bottom left, original letter datelined "Camp near Fredericksburg Apr. the 18, 1863", content includes references to a U.S. Army observation balloon across the lines, backflap tears, Very Fine, ex-Wishnietsky.

This cover and letter entered the mails only two days before the start of the Battle of Chancellorsville, the sender and the 33rd North Carolina fought in the battle as part of A.P. Hill's Division in Stonewall Jackson's Second Corps, Chancellorsville would be Jackson's last battle for the Confederacy.
