parcel (plastic with leather hinges, 190x190x50mm) sent via 'North Atlantic & Trans-Pacific Air Service' to Department of Information, Melbourne, (22 Oct). Extraordinary franking of KGVI 10/- dark blue (40) & missing a single 5/-, that paid 90 x 4/6
per ½oz rate. Customs labels for 367 feet of film on front, plus Export of Goods (control) order 1940 label under stamps on back. Stamp News article from 2007 included. (P)

stamps floated away, charred, missing 2 flaps etc, with 'London 23 DEC 1954' pmk. Christmas card to USA, cover with 2 strikes of cachet 'Salvaged Mail Aircraft Crash Prestwick 25 12 54' with another strike on the OHBMS PO envelope used to send to
addressee. On 25 December 1954, a British Overseas Airways Corporation Boeing 377 Stratocruiser crashed on landing at Prestwick Airport, Scotland; 28 of the 36 on board were killed. (Image1) (Image2)
