Printed OHMS - ROWLAND HILL printed form filling re a missing registered letter to America sent from London to Newton Abbot with PAID red CDS and arrival arc d/s, two printed on GPO Secretary orange embossed paper that,a full inquiry has been made in
this country for the missing letter addressed to Mr Richd Tothill (part torn) refereed to in your application without success.... The American Post Office has been written to on the subject and as soon as a reply is received a further communication
shall be made to you Rowland Hill (printed) and signed Mr Charles Langley, faults but interesting letter. From 1839 a missing letter branch was formed to investigate missing or stolen letters over 500 indexed cases 1854-56 were recorded, hence the
