288 Essay imageThis item is historically the most important artist`s designs oft he 1933-1945 era. It shows motifs oft he first nine commemorative stamps oft he Third Reich. Important facts: all motifs were designed by Alois Kolb, one oft he most important designers in Germany in the 20s and 30s. Kolb dated his drafts „13.3.1933“ on the back of a black presentation carton. Beneath the proofs we can see the seal of the „Reichsdruckerei Direktion“ (Direction oft he State Printers). In November, 1933 the first commemorative stamps oft he Third Reich were issued. Under the name „Wagner set“ these welfare stamps are known worldwide. A showpiece with historical potential without comparison – from the first year of the Third Reich. For the sake of order, it should be noted that the artist made small paper improvements to three of the essays for visual reasons. A „connoisseur's item“!
