Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 626 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike.
UNITED STATES, There are about (100) U.S. lots offered, with about a dozen Classic and late 19th Century issues, and a few Columbians. There are (9) various turn-of-the century issues. Washington/Franklins and 1920's issues have about 30 lots.
Highlights include: Lot 1 - 1a 5¢ Dark Brown, unused, catalog $2,400 and Lot 10 - 15¢ BROWN AND BLUE, TY I, F-VF NG, catalog $3,250.
COVERS, There is a small selection of covers(7), but with great significance; Zeppelin C13 on Europe-Pan America Round Flight Cover; and C18 50¢ Graf Zeppelin on First Flight Cover; and (4) First Day Covers, including a C23 FDC with Crosby
cachet.
AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, This section contains (60) lots; an interesting mix of air post, special delivery, postaage due, officials, newspapers, stationary, revenue and other BOB items.
ERRORS, FREAKS, AND ODDITIES, There are (25) lots: with misperforations, printing, color errors, and plate faults.
AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (46) lots offered, with (17) Autograph lots, of which (9) are sports figures with (5) being classic Astros players; and (2) exposition ticket lots, with one being 1893 World's Columbian Exposition of all
vignette issues and some other miscellaneous items.
GENERAL FOREIGN, COLLECTIONS, There are (34) lots to consider with a nice selection of Great Britain issues. Highlights are in collections: (1) U.S. COLLECTION IN FOUR ALBUMS, 1845-1986 with catalog value about $42,000; (2) CANADA COLLECTION TO
1971 IN SCOTT SPECIALTY ALBUM, with catalog value about $4,500, and (3) a World Wide Collection 1840-1991 in (25) Scott International Albums with slipcases containing an estimated 12-15,000 stamps.
DUCK STAMPS & PRINTS, Contains over (300) lots with several souvenir card varieties, FDC's, and collections. Ninety-five lots of Federals from which to pick and about (20) Plate Number Singles to select from; along with about two dozen Federal
errors. There are Artist Signed Federal and State Stamps (23). The State Duck stamps category consists of singles and errors. There are nearly (70) Governor's Editions and Non-authorized Governor Editions - many hand-signed. Finishing up the sale,
you'll find a selection of (14) Federal Duck Prints, (26) State Duck prints and (6) Conservation Prints. Highlights include a beautifully restored RW3 print by Richard Bishop (deceased) and a First Edition RW13 by Bob Hines (deceased).
