Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3120 - January 17, 2025

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 710 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • Lot 2 - Scott no. 8, 1¢ BLUE, TY III, POS. 1R4, Fine with light cds ccl and with obvious sheet outline at left and large margin at top.

  • Lot 14 - Scott no. 120, 24¢ GREEN AND VIOLET, Fine-Avg RG, light diagonal crease from flag down to second perforation at lower right, strong grill and good color.

  • Lot 16 - Scott no. 122, 90¢ CARMINE AND BLACK, Fine-Avg Unused, tiny thin and strong grill.

  • Lot 17 - Scott no. 155, 90¢ CARMINE, Fine-Avg OG, perforations barely in at bottom with fresh color.

  • Lot 587 - RW3(s) - 1936 Canada Goose, hand-signed by artist Richard E. Bishop, (deceased), VF NG.

  • Lot 694 - Maryland No. DRSB3a, 1984 BOW AND ARROW DEER SENIOR RESIDENT STAMP, WITH THREE OVERPRINTS, only 10 stamps known, VERY RARE! F-VF NH.

  • Lot 702 - 1936 FEDERAL DUCK PRINT,sba Richard Bishop (deceased), w/o stamp, nfai, edition size unknown, Canada Geese, 1"-1 3/4" mgns, personalized [For "de shootinest lady" ___ ___(name)], beautifully restored.

  • UNITED STATES, There are (70) U.S. lots offered, includes a nice assortment of Classic issues, such as Scott #2 with Weiss certificate; and a couple 90¢ issues (no.'s 39, 122 and 155) along with 1/2 dozen 1869 Pictorials There are some nice Banknotes and Bureau issues, a selection of Columbian issues including $1.00 to $5.00 issues, and Washington/Franklins. Also, includes no.'s 400, 400A, 403 and 404 high value Pan-Pacific. Another example is no. 524 $5.00 DEEP GREEN AND BLACK, PLATE BLOCK OF 8 NO. 8178 AND 8179 AND ARROW, F-VF NH and much more.
  • COVERS, There are (42) lots; several outstanding! A few of the items include a no. 1a 5¢ Dark Brown on Pale Blue, Folded Letter circa 1848; and no. 25 3¢ Brownish Carmine, Ty I, on cover. Also (2) UK covers to the Colorado territory - very interesting.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, This section contains (36) lots. There is a couple Graf Zeppelins C14 and 15 OG, VF and XF, some Special Delivery, Postage Due, and other assorted Back of Book issues. A couple highlights are UX17 1¢ "FULL FACE" MCKINLEY POSTAL CARD and UX17P, a 1¢ 1902 "FULL FACE" MCKINLEY POSTAL CARD, "DIE PROOF OF MCKINKLEY POSTAL CARD ISSUE OF 1901", imprinted at bottom. Very scarce!

  • ERRORS, FREAKS, AND ODDITIES, There are (3) lots: Receiving honorable mention is a 616var; the 5¢ HUGUENOT-WALLOON TERCENTENARY, UPPER RIGHT PLATE BLOCK OF 10 #F15754, POS. 2-5 WITH "BROKEN CIRCLE" PLATE FLAW AROUND THE RIGHT "5". (Lot 163).

  • U.S. POSSESSIONS & UNITED NATIONS, There are (19) lots, including four Confederate States, nos. 62X5, 4var, 6 and 8; three Canal Zone nos, 84-95, 97 and C5a; Cuba no. E1; Danish West Indies nos. 12 and J4; Guam nos. 7 and 12; Hawaii no. 73; Ryukyu no. 18 and (3) United Nations lots.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN, COLLECTIONS, There are about (180) lots to consider, starting with Australia, many Canada items including nos. 104-122 ($1235), People's Republic of China, France, many nice Germany items, Great Britain, Japan, Monaco, and many more. One of the star items In this foreign collections section, is a marvelous collection of British Asia on homemade album pages. (>2300 stamps).

  • DUCK STAMPS & PRINTS, Contains about (287) lots, with Duck Souvenir Cards (7), some beautifully rendered Federal & State Duck covers; along with (4) Federal Duck Collections that may just be what you are looking for to add to your collection! There are a few Junior Duck Stamps, including a JDS4 and JDS5, and some artist signed stamps. The Federal Duck PNS's (26) follow, with a wide variety of Federal Duck Stamps, Mini-sheets (including an RW72b - 2005 MINI-SHEET XF-Superb 90 NH, 2006 PSE graded certificate), Press Sheets, and a nice selection of outstanding Remarques (19). The Remarque section is a must-see! Next, are the Federal Duck Errors (14), followed by the Artist Signed Federal and State Stamps (42). The State Duck stamps category consists of Singles and Errors. The Governor's Editions (22) lots - several hand-signed - and 26 lots of non-authorized Governor Editions The Conservation and Society section has (9) lots. Finishing up the sale, you'll find a very impressive selection of Federal Prints (ex: RW3, RW10, RW21, RW25, RW39, RW40, RW44, RW45 and RW50).
