Sam Houston Philatelics Sale - 3086

Mail, Phone, Web, Internet Auction 3086 - October 13, 2021

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday October 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 569 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are about (160) U.S. lots, with some very nice early Classics, a nice set of Washington/Franklins Imperforate Horizontal Pairs, Pan-Pacific, and Regular issues. You can also find a nice variety of 1930 to Date, many with PSE certificates.
  • COVERS, There are (15) Cover lots - (4) assorted covers; commercial, presidential, and a scarce DPO cover, and (11) First Day Covers; including a no. 972 Indian Centennial Plate Block of 4 (2) with Polish postage.

  • REMARQUED POSTAGE & MISC. ITEMS, This section includes (9) Remarqued U.S. stamps by Ken Michaelsen, all beautifully done. Including a very nice C18 Graf Zeppelin with color remarque in the top selvage. Also, a "Roto-Gage" (rotary perforation gauge), which is an exceptional item for use and collecting!

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (32) lots of Airmails and Back of Book issues. You will find a nice example of C1, CE2 Plate Block of 6, Type 4, an E6, E8, and an O4.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (6) Lots of EFO's are offered. A small selection of interesting shifts, miscuts, and narrow block tagging.
  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, includes about (90) lots from a variety of countries e.g. Bahamas (2), Canada (14), China (3), Denmark (2), Falkland Islands (6), Greece (6), Russia (4), and Vietnam - to name a few. A nicely done U.S. Used collection of about (1,000) stamps, many Foreign Collections, including a United Nations (4) album set with mint NH stamps, Germany collection of over (8,000) stamps on album pages and in envelopes, and a Vatican City Collection in Lighthouse album. Also, a great selection of Topical Collections, including "Discovery of America" Collection in (2) green FILGEST Hingeless albums with slipcases, and a collection of FDC's and Event covers (about 170) on Republic of Texas Sesquicentennial. Nice variety!

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (11) Autographs, including Author Ellen Pickering, Heisman Trophy winner Roger Staubach, and British actress Ann Todd. There are a few duck related items, including our own Sam Houston Duck Co. Souvenir Sheet of 15 - RARE!

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (234) lots, which includes Federal and State FDC's (27), Federal Duck Collections (5). Federal Junior Duck stamps (6), Plate Number Singles (11), Federal singles (85), Mini-sheets (10), Errors (11), and Artist Signed Federals (14). There are (2) State Duck collections to start off the state duck section, both in Harshman and Houk albums, which are now out of print. A variety of State duck stamps (30, Governor's Editions (4), and Conservation and Fishing (13). To finish the sale, you will find some nice Federal Duck Prints, including an RW39 First Edition, and an RW40 First Edition. Also, a nice selection of State Duck Prints are offered (10). There are (5) particularly interesting Original Wildlife Art paintings, that would make a nice addition to someone's office wall!
