3334	C	36: TWO CENT: GREEN, tied by cork to REGISTERED 1¢ POSTAL CARD from Alberton, PEI 17 AP ‘88 to Philadelphia, received 20 AP from March 1 to April 30, 1888, the Registration fee for LETTERS to the US was lowered to 2¢, and registered covers from this short period are RARE, but evidently the postmaster at Alberton thought the rate change applied to postcards as well. This is the only IN-PERIOD 2¢ REGISTERED RATE POSTCARD TO THE USA which we can recall seeing. Although anomalous and contrary to regulations (also somewhat toned and faulty at top right corner) this is a RARE POSTCARD RATE ITEM.
