Postal History. 1956 (June 6) Morris Hedstrom Ltd airmail envelope
(275x125mm) to Samoa with Sydney machine cancel and stamps washed off, obvious damage from immersion in water, very fine strike of violet straight-line 'SOILED MAIL EX VASU' handstamped at Apia on face. [The mail was flown to Fiji, then per wooden
motorship 'Vasu' which foundered in rough seas about 300km north of Tonga, and was abandoned. Brian Peace states, at page 322, that '29 pieces of mail were recovered'.] (Image 1)

Military - World War I Period. 1915 cover from Ravenswood RS
(Vic) to the Central Post Office Constantinople, light cancel on faulty 1d red KGV which also has an 'E.X' censor? handstamp on it, Turkish Censor reseal at top. The cover has a DLO Melbourne label resealing the top. The legible backstamps are
30JUIN1920 Stamboul, 7JY20 British Army PO & a SE20 Melbourne DLO, handstamps on the face include boxed 'RETURN TO POST OFFICE/BY MILITARY AUTHORITIES/.../AS UNDELIVERABLE/...' & and a blurred french handstamp which seems to say the censoring
body is returning it to the censor. [Private John Powell became missing in action on 25th April 1915 at the Gallipoli Landing, He was declared KIA in April 1916. The family were writing to the Turkish Authorities to see if he was a POW. A rare

Ballarat block of 10 5x2 with columns in red & blue with the blue column being misplaced downward by 3mm, plus a vertical strip of 5 in grey-green, the strip has been rejoined and perfs on the block have been re-inforced it is
tempting to think that the strip is column 3 however the third column in the Parise block is black. Extremely rare, the first example we know of showing the all 5 designs. (2 items) (Image 1)
