Postal History. 1878 (Nov 27) Ploos van Amstel entire from Melbourne to
St Georges-Du-Bois, France "via Brindisi" with scarce & attractive franking of 1d Bell (Double perfs at right) and 2/- deep greenish-blue/green P12½ (used six months prior to the SG listed
issue date of May 1880) tied by Melbourne duplex cancels, the adhesives paying double the 1/0½d per ½oz rate (via Modane & Paris), French transit backstamp, fine condition. This item is not recorded in Ben Palmer's census, however a
similar item, from the same correspondence, is recorded as France #205, and sold for $548 (incl comms) in our March 2017 Sale.
