Phoenix Auctions Sale - 2187

Worldwide On-Line Auction - May 26-27, 2025

Welcome to Phoenix Auctions #2187, being held on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th May, both days starting at 10am. This will be our 6th Auction for 2025.

Session 1 (4001-5438) Monday with Australia through to Tasmania.
Session 2 (lots 5439-7246) Tuesday with Victoria, WA and Territories and then Rest of World.

As usual there are many variety lots, particularly in the Roos, including a faulty, but very rare, 3rd wmk £1 brown & blue Sideways Wmk (lot 4090) and KGV Sideface issues, one of the more unusual lots is a ½d green single line perf with a private perfin (lot 4111). We have our usual range of Postal History, including a nice group of POW mail (Lots 4740-51), FDCs (many rarities), Coins, Revenues etc. There is a good range of Australian Colonies with a wide range of stamps, postal history and postmarks. There are some rare Gippsland postal history lots including a small neat Butterfly 9 cover (Lot 5558) and an 1857 cover with a 1d Half-Length with a Squeezed Transfer (Lot 5497).

Rest of World collectors are always well catered for. There are over 950 lots in this section and the General & Single Country sections of the auction. There is a good selection of Foreign & British Commonwealth, with many pre-1970 mint & used sets, Canada, France & China all have a useful selection of lots, with China having a small range of rare 1943-45 Registered airmail covers from Chungking to Sydney (Lots 6562-69). With a wide variety of countries and many lots of Postal History, Stationery, etc, there is plenty to choose from.Notes:

  • Most collection & accumulation type lots have a reserve of 50% of the estimate.
  • The buyer's commission is just 18.15%.
  • New bidders need to be aware that, while there is no room bidding for these auctions, viewing, phone bidding and live internet bidding are still available. Lastly live bidding will skip over lots without any form of bid, so please enter some sort of bid, even if it is just $1, to ensure that these lots appear during live bidding.   • Viewing is available 10am-4pm from Sunday 18th to Sunday 25th May (excluding Saturday 24th). Our address is Suite 2, Level 1, 441 Canterbury Rd, Surrey Hills, 3127. Call us if earlier viewing is required and call or email us if you need more information about a lot.
  • Auction 2187 is an on-line auction and will be live on the net via our own auction systems. Just login as usual and then open the Live Bidding window, the link is active from 20 minutes before the start of the auction.
