Lot 8372 - 1916-22 1d Red KGV Star BW #ES14 (Menuz #18A) 1916 (Jun 28) use of envelope printed for The Rosella Preserving & Manufacturing Company Limited, uprated with 1d red KGV, beautiful multicoloured illustration of rosella (parrot), local usage with Melbourne machine cancel, a couple of tiny inconsequential blemishes. Worldwide Public Auction - September 15, 2025

Welcome to Phoenix Auctions #110, starting at 10am on Monday 15th September. This our 10th auction for 2025. Auction 110 is a public auction and will be held in our Boardroom. We hope you find the wide range of lots appealing and interesting.

Session 1 (lots 8001-8375) Monday morning with Australian Commonwealth stamps through to Postal Stationery.
Session 2 (lots 8376-9007) Monday afternoon with the balance of Australia and Rest of World.

While there are many fine items in this Auction, there are 2 important contributors. We are pleased to offer the Bob Parsons estate, Bob was a fastidious plating specialist, particularly the 9d Kangaroo & 2d Die I KGV Head. He was co-author of the 2 standard works on these stamps. His lots are spread throughout the auction, including in the NWPI section, and are all identified with Ex Bob Parsons at the end of the description, Just enter ‘Parsons’ in the description search to see all his lots. We are also offering a fine selection of lots relating to the Trans-Australian Railway, This is a special section at the end of the WA section (Lots 8542-8605). There is a fascinating array of postal history, postmarks, PPCs, ephemera, cinderellas etc from both the South Australian and the Western Australian portions of the line.

Notes:

• Just a reminder that the buyer’s commission for our Public Auctions is still only 20.9%!
• Viewing is available 10am-4pm from Sunday 7th September to Sunday 14th September (there is no viewing on Saturdays), limited viewing is available on auction day.. Our address is Suite 2, Level 1, 441 Canterbury Rd, Surrey Hills, 3127. Call us if earlier viewing is required and call or email us if you need more information about a lot. We welcome clients picking up their lots from our office, however this can only be from 12pm onwards on Tuesday 16th September, other days from 10am-4pm. Please call ahead so we have time to get your purchases ready for you.
• Auction 110 is a public auction and will be live on the net via our own auction systems. Just login as usual and then open the Live Bidding window, the link is active from 20 minutes before the start of the auction. Live Bidding gives you the ability to bid on each lot just as if you were in the room. We also have phone bidding available.
• We would like to get your successful purchases in the mail as quickly as possible and you can help by providing us with your preferred payment option when you bid.
• The changing tariff situation in the USA is creating world-wide difficulties for postal authorities and couriers, and Australia is not immune to these problems. The recent removal of the ‘de minimus’ (packages under $800 were not previously considered for tariff collection), has led to more uncertainty as to how tariff charges are applied. Hopefully by mid-September we will have a better understanding of how this will be working and what extra charges will be incurred..
