1324	Used	1908 Very Rare Postal History Cover from Serbia Sep 28th to Sarajevo (Bosnia), Arrival Postmark K.u.K Military Mail Sarajevo Oct. 15th, Bosnian Chrisis, Austro-Hungarian Annexation \| 1908 Cover from Ivanjica Serbia with 25P to Sarajevo in Bosnia Herzegovina. This historical envelope is a fascinating piece of postal history from a very tense time in the Balkans! the postmark from Ivanjica is from Sept. 28th 1908. When this letter was mailed, Bosnia was still technically under Ottoman sovereignty. Mail between Serbia and Sarajevo was frequent, but the political climate was reaching a boiling point. The very special about this letter is the arrival postmark from Austrian K.u.K Military Mail Sarajevo form Oct. 15th 1908. This arrival mark makes this envelope to a significant historical "Chrisis Cover". The 17-day delay is not a coincidence - it´s a direct result of the Bosnian Annexation Chrisis, because Austria-Hungary officialy annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina on Oct. 6th 1908. Under normal circumstances, mail between Serbia and Sarajevo would have taken only a few days. The delay shows that the post was likely held at the border due to the political chaos. When the annxation was annonced on Oct. 6th, relation between Serbia ans Austria-Hungary collapsed instantly, leading to mobilization and strict border controls. The red postmark is a Spanish transit mark from the pre-stamp era (c. 1830s–1840s). It reveals the exact origin and route: M: Stands for Madrid, the central hub where the letter was processed for international transit. DA.VC: Abbreviation for DE ANDALUCIA (from Andalusia). AXA: Abbreviation for BAXA (modern Spanish: Baja). Full Meaning: "Madrid / De Andalucia / Baxa". This confirms the letter originated in Lower Andalusia (the region around Seville and Cádiz) and was routed through Madrid to France. The large handwritten 16 indicates the postage due was 16 décimes.This was a "collect" letter. The recipient in Bordeaux had to pay this high fee in cash. A rate of 16 suggests either a long-distance international route or, more likely, a double-weight letter (heavier than a standard single sheet). The letter is addressed to Messrs. J. H.
