Wakapuaka (NN 1899-c1922 ch) fair-good strike of "WAKAPUAKA P.O." A-type cds 31 OC 07 as receipt d/s on PPC ex USA franked 1c Franklin. Charged postage due, with US "5 CTMS T" h/s & faint NZ "TO PAY 1d", but no Postage Due stamp. Edge faults.
Wakapuaka was the terminus of the 1st trans-Tasman telegraph cable. Scarce.
