2785 C India-Persia (Iran) 1917 WWI OAS stampless cover to GB "via Linga" (name of addressee excised), endorsed by signature "J.W. Lord". B/s good-fine (Indian Army) "F.P.O. No. 357" cds 31? JUL 17 (used at Shiraz, Persia c April 1917-March 1920). Pencil notation on cover states sent from Dehbid to Shiraz, then to port of Linga on the Persian Gulf. Two perforated "G R Found open (or torn) and officially secured" labels applied in GB & canc Newmarket cds 17 AU 17. Very unusual British WWI OAS mail ex Persia.
