Incl Nos 74 (ex Port Moresby), 200 (Jackson's Field, Port Moresby), 201 (Gurney Air Strip, Milne Bay), 202 (Nadzab), 203 (Momote), 236 (Finschhafen), 238 (Madang). Strikes on front only fair (due to dark stamps) but those on back generally clear. With matching boxed reg'n h/s on each.

2242 C Papua & New Guinea 1943 WWII stampless OAS censored (air) cover to Australia (apparently no stamps available), m/s "Please forward", to Bishop of New Guinea (in Sydney, redirected to Adelaide). Canc fair strike only of boxed rubber h/s (violet) "UNIT POSTAL STATION S.86" 30 MAR 1943, & with good boxed AMF censor h/s "291" (violet). Proud gives location as "Australia", July 1942-Feb 1944, BUT on flap is m/s "From Bishop Newham, Anglican Mission, c/o A.N.G.A.U., Port Moresby, Australian New Guinea". Sydney transit b/s 5 APR 1943. Rough condition but scarce proving cover.

Wotherspoon ( a New Zealander) over the Pitcairn schoolmaster at the time. Possibly unique routing? VG condition.
