Canc fair strike only of boxed rubber h/s (violet) "UNIT POSTAL STATION S.86" 30 MAR 1943, & with good boxed AMF censor h/s "291" (violet). Proud gives location as "Australia", July 1942-Feb 1944, BUT on flap is m/s "From Bishop Newham, Anglican Mission, c/o A.N.G.A.U., Port Moresby, Australian New Guinea". Sydney transit b/s 5 APR 1943. Rough condition but scarce proving cover.

Addressed to "Miss Ann Wotherspoon, Pitcairn Island, South Pacific Ocean", with request to return the reply half canc at Pitcairn (possible under UPU regs). Also USA FDC Sept 22 1956 to the same address. No P.I. receipt cds on either cover. Ann was the daughter of the Pitcairn schoolmaster at the time. Fine (2).

Wotherspoon ( a New Zealander) over the Pitcairn schoolmaster at the time. Possibly unique routing? VG condition.
