GOVT PRINTER' imprint along the dividing line; also the issued card with a captioned black & white image, postally used with 'MARYBOROUGH/AP6/14' datestamp tying the card. This is one of the only two colour proofs known. A great rarity. (2)

LETTER CARDS: 1895 2d Card Perf 12 Proof in issued blue/pale yellow, with four dotted address lines, which are centred to the right, on unwatermarked laid stock, pencil lines on reverse suggesting the card was hand cut. Only known example.

The instructional text on reverse, with comma after 'Queensland', was adopted for the first 2d Letter Card released by the Colony on 1 June 1895.

LETTER CARDS: (H&G #1-4) Range of 2d Cards Types 1 to 10, all expansively annotated on exhibit pages, including rare Type 8 used 1907 (Aug.2) Brisbane to Sydney (no unused examples are recorded), plus mint and used examples of all other Types, with better origins/destinations including uprated Type 7 used 1903 from Thursday Island to South Africa and Type 9 used 1908 from Brisbane to German New Guinea; a very good lot. ENVELOPES - PTPO: (H&G #4a) 1d Four Corner Figures in Vermilion on window envelopes for user 'The White Mercantile Agency Ltd', one on off-white paper (93x166mm), the other on greenish-blue stock (89x152mm), the former with printed 'United Distributing Companies Ltd, Head Office, Sydney' on reverse, 1911 (Nov.4) or 1913 (Jan.15) BRISBANE machine cancels; opening faults.
