A SPECTACULAR MILLARD FILLMORE 1856 CAMPAIGN DESIGN, ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MILGRAM COLLECTION.

One other Fillmore 1856 Campaign cover from Rondout N.Y. is known from the same sender with a different ink caricature featuring Tired Mule and Country Gentleman (Rumsey Sale 108 Lot 1228). The country gentleman is similar to the caricature in this design leading the supporter parade with a lantern.

This envelope picturing Banks, later a Civil War general who was depicted on a number of patriotic covers, apparently was made at the time of Banks' bid for President. However, it was postally used two years after Banks ran for office.
