Our object was to gain all the information that we could concerning the enemy and we have performed the duty to the satisfaction of Gen. Keyes and he has just requested us to go to Centreville if possible for the purpose of observing the movements of the enemy and their fortifications there. The expedition is fraught with danger but I shall be very careful. I will assure you that your picture is in my pocket. It has been with me over all the hills and valleys and through the dark woods of old Virginia and should the Rebels get me tonight they will get it, but I do not think they will get me for I am pretty sly in the woods. You will find a secession postage stamp enclosed that I found on an envelope in one of their deserted camps…"; light file folds, fresh and Extremely Fine Magnus patriotic lettersheet.
