Nov 15" cds on 1851 blue folded letter to New Orleans La., couple file folds, Very Fine and choice early use, signed Amonette on reverse "Early use of brownish carmine".

This is a premium early use of the brownish carmine color, reddish, that would shortly become a standard hue for a couple years before it was revived in 1856 due to red lead sourcing or formulation changes.
