sales began of charity labels such as the example offered here, which were sold at 2c each in aid of the construction of a sanatorium for children suffering from tuberculosis. Construction of the first such financed sanatorium began in 1907, and was
opened in 1911.
1907, Postkarte frankiert mit 5bit hellgrünem Christian IX waagerechtes Paar, daneben aufgeklebter "Julen 1907" Tuberkulose Wohltätigkeits-Spendensiegel, abgestempelt mit Frederiksted c.d.s. (28 Dec), am nächsten Tag St. Thomas Transit c.d.s.
bindet Petschaftsstempel, nach Kopenhagen, Dänemark, mit Spur von c.d.s. Empfänger oben rechts, ein sehr attraktives Exemplar dieser Marke. Ab 1904 begann der Verkauf von Wohltätigkeitsetiketten wie dem hier angebotenen Exemplar,
die zu je 2c zugunsten des Baus eines Sanatoriums für tuberkulosekranke Kinder verkauft wurden. Mit dem Bau des ersten derart finanzierten Sanatoriums wurde 1907 begonnen, und 1911 wurde es offen eröffnet. (Image 1)
