This auction presents a remarkable collection of rare Chinese stamps spanning Imperial China through the People's Republic era. Highlights include the iconic Shanghai Local Post Dragon stamps, the first postage stamps ever issued in China, alongside outstanding Large Dragon multiples with provenance from the Sir Percival David and Paul Hock Collections, and the 1894 Dowager Empress commemoratives in impressive depth including the rare "Mollendorf" special printing.

The sale continues through Republican regional issues and Civil War era Liberation Area material, before concluding with classic People's Republic highlights including the 1964 Chinese Peonies souvenir sheet, the 1967 Poems of Mao set, and the world famous 1980 Year of the Monkey in unmounted mint block form.
