Lot 47 - 1872 ¼a black with single frame line. Experts of Bhopal consider this to be the first stamp issued by Bhopal and as such should be renumbered in catalogs to reflect it. This is the only recorded unused example of this stamp (9 used copies have been recorded) putting this is the same category as one of the world's rarest stamp. It is undoubtedly the rarest Indian stamp. Unused without gum as issued. Minute thin mentioned for accuracy. Ex. Dan Walker collection. 2025 ISES certificate. US$0.... Currently US$ 75,000

Our 2nd auction with 598 lots of Indian States; half of the lots starting at $1. Every lot with a starting price of over $99 is accompanied by an ISES Inc or RPSL or BPA certificate. This auction has 124 lots from Dan Walker's Bhopal collection which includes the infamous Bhopal Scott #3 / SG #3, considered the be the rarest Indian State stamp today of of which only one example is known. The auction also has a nice selection of unused blocks of four.
