Postal History Fragment franked with two copies of the 15c. rose, type II cancelled with the Ferrara papal postmark Before the Papal States joined the Austro-Italian League on October 1, 1852, Ferrara tolerated the use of Lombardy-Venetia stamps for postage to the border, in addition to the standard papal postage stamp for postage to the border, thus avoiding the recipient having to pay for inland postage. These latter stamps were stamped in Ferrara. The letter certainly originally included a bajocchi stamp. A great postal-historical rarity, both from Lombardy-Venetia and the Papal States, of which only a few examples are known. Cert. En. Diena. Firma A. Postal History Fragment franked with 15c. vermilion red, type II and 30c. brown, type I, ribbed paper cancelled in red with rectangular postmark "P / Papal State" and the Ferrara postmark (7 Aug.) on the side Before the Papal States joined the Austro-Italian League on October 1, 1852, Ferrara tolerated the use of Lombardy-Venetia stamps for postage to the border, in addition to the standard papal postage stamp for postage to the border. Prima dell'entrata dello Stato Pontificio nella Lega Austro-Italica il 1° ottobre 1852 a Ferrara venne tollerato, durante il 1852, l'applicazione, oltre al normale francobollo pontificio per il porto fino al confine, anche gli esemplari di Lombardo-Veneto per la tratta dal confine a destino, così da evitare al destinatario di doversi occupare di pagare il porto interno. Third Italian War of Independence An interesting "mixed" administrative document, drawn up in Mantua, initially during Austrian administration, when the pink and black fiscal stamps of Lombardy-Venetia were affixed, and subsequently completed on November 4th, when the administration was already Italian, and the transitional fiscal stamps for Veneto and Mantua were therefore affixed.
