UPPER ST. BAZIL N.B. double split-ring and backstamped Grand Falls the same day, the inside with Presque Isle c.d.s. (19 Aug) struck in the allotted space by the postmaster and signed as proof of delivery; minor splits along the folds reinforced with hinges, otherwise very fine, scarce; ex Horace Harrison.

Registered letter wrapper-receipts saw fairly extensive use during the Provincial period; many postmasters, particularly in the Maritimes, however, continued the practice after Confederation despite their use being formally prohibited in 1875. (Image 1) (Image 2)
