Barrie / Officer in Charge" corner card, endorsed in manuscript "Stamps not procurable," reverse with Toronto split-ring arrival backstamp (4 Feb), some light edge faults, else much fresher than usually seen for Canadian Contingent mail.

In "The Postal History of the Canadian Contingents, Anglo-Boer War, 1899-1902", Boer notes this cover type as first reported in December 1899, making this an early example during its first month of use. (Image 1) (Image 2)
