335 cover   image1944 (November 29), Salvaged from Air Crash, RAF Transport Command Liberator TS292, cover sent from Aurora, Ontario, to F/L Gilbert A.E. (J-85413), Air Command, Trenton, intended for overseas transit to the United Kingdom, recovered and struck with violet two-line "SALVAGED FROM / AIR CRASH" instructional mark, variously redirected and further struck with violet "ADDRESSEE RETURNED TO CANADA" handstamp, repaired with "Officially Sealed" economy label and re-addressed on green Canada Postage security tape overlapping the redirection handstamp, reverse with violet double-oval POST OFFICE / R.C.A.F. BASE DEPOT (12 Dec) strike and subsequent M.P.O. 304 (20 Feb and 2 Apr 1945) transit markings, the enclosed four-page letter centred by a large circular charred hole from the post-crash fire, with charred newspaper clippings, a striking crash cover.

The RAF Transport Command Liberator TS292 went down shortly after takeoff from Dorval, Quebec, on 4 December 1944 while carrying military mail bound for the United Kingdom. During salvage sorting it was determined that the addressee had already repatriated, leading to the "Returned to Canada" marking and a subsequent five-month journey through Camp Borden and the M.P.O. system before reaching the recipient.
