629   image1960s (circa), Thomas de la Rue, large die proof, measuring 76 × 85 mm, sunk-in on wove paper, engraved by George A. Gundersen, depicting a full-face portrait of Thomas de la Rue, with manuscript "2-Black" below, light wrinkles, quite fresh and well preserved, attractive and very fine.

Prepared to commemorate the centennial of Thomas de la Rue’s death, this essay is believed to exist in only two known examples; from this die, sheets of perforated labels in various colours were later printed and distributed. (Image 1)
