661 CVR   image1833/4 two stampless letters to Edward Lacon Ommanney of the Bengal Engineers at Calcutta, one datelined Bradford, the other London, the addresses crossed-out and redirected to Dacca, one with boxed red "G.H.O. 16 AG 16" in red, the other Calcutta G.P.O. JA 2 1834 c.d.s., both fragile, with some portion of contents separated along folds but included, still an interesting pair; Edward Lacon Ommanney served during the Indian Mutiny of 1857, and later escorted Bahadur Shah II to his exile in Rangoon. 662 CVR   image1836 (18 June) "INDIA LETTER / LIVERPOOL", Bombay to London, stampless folded letter, with black boxed "INDIA LETTER / LIVERPOOL", endorsed "per Cleveland" at lower left, crossed-out, with fascinating addendum to contents discussing the challenges of navigation, dated 23rd June, noting "the Cleveland was under weigh [sic] before this could reach her and will have to go per "Wm. Rodger" for Lpool...I have had an interview through the introduction of Mr. Walter (?)...the Medical who last accompanied the small steamer in her Nov. trip up to Hyderabad. It seems the great obstacles law between the sea and Hyderabad, and that at the season of the year when they attempted to ascend the only practicable mouth known, the steamer found in several places only 1½ to 2ft of water..."
