Gananoque Straight Line to York, a folded letter mailed by Joel Stone (founder of Gananoque) to John Dunn at York. The cover has a lovely strike of the rare straightline GANANOQUE postmark (only 3 or 4 known), being the new earliest recorded date
for this by two years "Nov 5, 1822". There are no receiving marks except for a notation reading "Rec'd 9th November '22". The cover is rated "1N6" and docketing reads: "Joel Stone Esqr. Collector of the Port of Gananoqui, enclosing the sum of

Brockville Straight Line Postmark, mailed around JAN.17.1822 (docketing), sender is Oliver Evans who was sending John Dunn (Receiver General) the sum of £36 "in Bank Bills", which another docketing reads was received on January 22. The front of
the folded cover (no contents) shows a fine strike of the BROCKVILLE straight line postmark. Cover is falling apart at the seams, still a good example of the postmark.

Thornhill and Niagara on SFL to England, a fabulous folded letter which was mailed at Thornhill (U.C italics double circle is not only the only recorded example, but the earliest for that town by 14 years) to Bristol, England, where it was
re-directed to Bridgewater, then Wells. The front of the cover is also adorned with a Niagara U.C AUG.31.1830 double circle in red, and a rare "Niagara / Canada / Paid to New York" belt buckle type handstamp in red, as well as a nude strike of
Bridgewater (England). Back of cover shows a boxed "Ship Letter / Liverpool", a Bristol c.d.s. dated OCT.5.1830. There are numerous rate markings, all explained on Michael Rixon album page. This is a large cover, and when opened reveals a very
lengthy letter which no doubt will be interesting to read. Very fine and attractive, with many ideal attributes. (Scan 1)
