1899 Uprated Post Card Mailed to Orange Free State, Africa, P17 1c green Leaf card uprated with a 1c Numeral stamp mailed from Charlottetown, P.E.I. to Bethulin (actually Bethulie), Orange Free State (receiver on back), forwarded to Pretoria, where it arrived on OCT.7. Back is a printed notice from Charlottetown stamp dealer A. A. Bartlett, very fine. Very rare, and as far as we know one of the very few Victorian era items addressed there. Two Post Cards Mailed to Monaco, P17 1c green leaf card mailed from Montréal on FEB.24.1903 to Paris, France (received MAR.7), redirected to Monte Carlo, Monaco, received there MAR.8. The card was taxed "T/5" in circle and two 10 centimes French Postage Due stamps (Scott J30) were affixed. Monaco did not have its own Postage Dues until 1905 (closed spike hole). A second card is a P22 2c blue U.P.U. Leaf mailed from Hedleyville, Québec on FEB.12.1903 to Paris, France, redirected to Monte Carlo, Monaco, with FEB.25 receiver. 1899 1c Black Queen Victoria Illustrated Advertising Post Card with Reply Portion Still Attached, mailed to and from Montréal on FEB.16.1899 (machine cancel), back of card has an illustration of a telephone, telephone poles, etc. for the Ness. McLaren & Bate company, with a message announcing an upcoming inspection. The reply part (which has become unattached, but holding on with two hinges), also has the same advertising, and was never sent. Tiny bit of staining, still quite a scarce item.
