463 nh 133ii image1924 2c Yellow Green Admiral Coil, Perf 12 Horizontally, vertical pair showing the "Transfer roll flaw in N of CENTS" on both stamps, and with bottom stamp also showing an extended frameline at bottom right corner (potentially a retouch), nicely centered, mint never hinged, fresh and very fine. This type of variety or flaw, similar to the "diagonal line in" varieties on the 7c red brown, has now been called "Vertical Band Flaws" by the BNAPS Admirals study group, and is still being actively researched by specialists in term of cause, plates and specific positions on plates. A lovely item for the Admiral specialist, as the presence of the flaw and the extended frameline could allow someone to finally confirm the specific plate from which the 2c green endwise coil was printed from. 469 O 104-140 imageImpressive and Extensive Collection of Used Admiral Issues, all neatly displayed on 43 album pages, with descriptions and catalogue numbers, left intact by us except for the major re-entry 1c blue green which was lotted separately. The collection covers all issues, including the regular 1c to $1 issues, plus coils, part imperforates, imperforates and surcharges (no War Tax). We note a great many better items, too many to list in detail here, but does include just about every Unitrade-listed shade, many unlisted shades, papers, printings, retouches, re-entries, booklet panes and singles, coils are present in pairs, including paste-up pairs and three Toronto experimental coil pairs, and more, with many quite valuable items. Also note an introductory King George V picture postcard and a 1925 Montreal Philatelic Exhibition card franked with a 1c orange. What really stands out in this collection, aside from its vast array of different stamps, is the quality, as the collector made an effort to obtain as many c.d.s. postmarked examples, with many socked on the nose and dated, including the coil pairs and booklet panes. A once in a lifetime opportunity to obtain such a substantial, researched and well presented used collection. See photos on our website. (All Scans)

470 og/nh   imageDealer Stock of Mint Admirals, with roughly 200 stamps, mostly in two row stock cards and dealer cards sorted by issue. We note better items including Scott #s:113c Sage Green (l.h., c.v. $550), 116 (m.h., c.v. $275), 116a Reddish Purple (h.r., c.v. $310), along with experimental Toronto coil single #131iv (m.h., c.v. $100). The lot also includes a few booklet panes, coils (including coil pairs), and War Tax issues. Catalogue value counted as mint hinged only (includes retail pricing of dealer cards). A spot check of stamps revealed predominately mint hinged, with a small representation of mint never hinged, and a few with no gum. Online photos show an overview of the lot. 473 O 104/120 imageAdvanced Collection of the First Admiral Printings, 1911-1918, all in a thick binder, a heavily researched collection which includes the first printings, e.g. #s 104, 106, 108, 111, 113, 116, 119 and 120. Each issue is represented with numerous used stamps illustrating different plates, dies, retouched dies, shades, printing varieties, Marler Types, many dated copies, and extras which have not yet categorized. Each issue is also prefaced by photocopies from important monographs on the subject and a bit of correspondence with recognized authorities. A quick count revealed that there are over 1,000 stamps, mostly fine to very fine. Also includes a Reiche Admiral Colour Identification manual and a page of 4c (110) and 7c (113) shades prepared by, and sold to owner by Richard Morris. Online scans only give examples of the pages, we recommend examining this one in person to better appreciate.
