LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
1520 O/og/nh   imageVarious Parallel Mint and Used Collections of Various Caribbean Countries, to about 1975, in 9 albums. This collection includes, in order of importance, Bermuda, St Lucia, Grenada, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. The Bermuda collection is the most extensive and the one with the most developed Victoria era section. Among the many better items, we noted Scott mint 18-26, with 25a, (c.v. $246), 55-69 (c.v. $142) and a nice section of George VI Keytypes including 3 different mint pound values (total c.v. $892). St. Lucia really starts with the Edward VII period and goes longest, to 1997. In addition to mint and used sets, it features a large number of “specimen” overprinted sets from 1983 on. Grenada is strongest in the early issues such as mint #s 39-48 (c.v. $140) and 91-112 (c.v. $147). Owner’s identification of early issues and varieties has not been checked by us. Faults noted in early material, otherwise, fine to very fine. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (Scan 5) (Scan 6) (Scan 7) (Scan 8) (Scan 9) (Scan 10) (Scan 11) (Scan 12) (All Scans)

We saw Ascension, Australia, Antigua, Great Britain, Norfolk Island, Papua, Rhodesia, Ross Dependency, Solomon Islands, etc. along with a few non-Commonwealth countries. 1523 O/og/nh   imageBalance of Mint and Used Dealer Stock, 1880s to 1980s, with thousands of stamps in 5 stockbooks (including some NH stamps), 5 albums, 3 binders and some hinged on loose quadrille or stock pages, along with singles and sets in two full boxes of 102 cards and glassines mostly sorted by country or issue. Singles or sets of note include the owner-identified Barbados Scott #70-80 (2020 c.v. $305), #179a (S.G. #252ba, "line above horse's head", c.v. £140), St. Helena #81 (S.G. #99b, "torn flag", c.v. £100), British Solomon Protectorate #1-7 (c.v. $336), British Guyana #210-222 (c.v.$179), British Honduras #62-71 (used, c.v. $1,026) and Seychelles Die I complete first set of 1890 (c.v. $256) and some perforated Penny Reds with Northern Ireland and Scottish cancels. We noted many different countries (Great Britain, Bahamas, Canada, Gambia, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Malta, Maldives, Trinidad and Tobago, and many others) with a group of about 25 souvenir sheets from Guyana and Gambia retail priced at over $475. There is a brand new album, "The Commonwealth Collection", issued in 1982 at one of the meetings of the Commonwealth heads of state. We also noted a few non-Commonwealth countries included here and there. While we noted a few album pages with stuck-down stamps, the vast majority of this lot is fine or better, and it would appeal to British Commonwealth collectors and resellers equally. Our online photos invite further advance viewing. 1524 O/og   imageBritish Commonwealth Accumulation, with mint and used from an old time collection in glassines, auction and album pages. The glassines contain primarily King George VI issues including a large selection of mint and used low value 1948 Silver Wedding singles, blocks, and 13 corner blocks (including Hong Kong), all with very fresh colors, along with a selection of Peace and Coronation Omnibus sets and Definitive issues with a few glassines cataloging up to $20 (Scott 2021 pricing). The lot continues with a set of mint hinged Trinidad & Tobago, Scott #s 34-42 (c.v. $87), and a selection of mint hinged Fiji low value definitives ranging from 1903-1923 (c.v. $224 total), a selection of used in a loose leaf notebook with strength in India, Australia and States, and New Zealand, and 1945-49 King George VI stitched booklets (x6, containing 3 panes of 4 stamps, separated by glassine and paper with advertising), along with a 1941 Bermuda stapled booklet containing 5 panes of 6 stamps, separated by glassine. The lot rounds out with a selection of old time pages with various mint and used (roughly a few hundred stamps, with almost all the mint stamps and some stuck to the pages due to damp storage and older hinges). Online photos show an overview of this lot which is unpicked and could hold a few surprises as this accumulation is on the market for the first time, from the Armstrong find.
