U.P.U. Postal Card to Turkey, mailed from Montréal (flag cancel) to Constantinople, Turkey (MAY.8 British Post Office receiver), then redirected on MAY.11 to Alexandria, Egypt, with MAY.18 receiver on front. Under U.P.U. regulations at this time,

U.P.U. Registered Rate Cover to Tasmania, a 1c green QV stationery cover mailed from Upper Stewiacke Nova Scotia on SEP.12 (c.d.s.) to Oatlands, Tasmania (NOV.26 receiver on front), through Halifax (SEP.12), Montréal (SEP.14), Vancouver (SEP.19),
Sydney N.S.W. (Oct.21). The cover was then sent to the Tasmanian Dead Letter Office on FEB.17.1899 and finally to the Ottawa D.L.O. on APR.5.1899. Franking is made up of QV Leaf and Numerals paying a total of 10c (5c U.P.U. rate and 5c registration
fee). A very fine and well travelled cover to a scarce destination. Tasmania was a British Colony from 1856 to 1901 at which time it joined five other colonies to form the Commonwealth of Australia. (Scan 1)

Registered Cross Border Cover Re-Directed to France, mailed from Victoria, British Columbia on JUN.28 to San Francisco, California, where a Paris, France forwarding address label was probably affixed. New York City JUL.10 oval registration
transit (plus registration label affixed to front of cover) and clear Paris, Rue Meissonier JUL.19 receiver. The cover is franked with a 2c QV Numeral and 5c QV Leaf, properly paying the cross border registration rate. A very fine example showing
that the current U.P.U. regulations did not require additional postage to forward letters, even, in this case, to France, where it would have cost 10c to send directly.
