1207 O 1/699 imageExtensive Used Collection in a Lighthouse Hingeless Album, 1851 to 1976, starts off strong with a #1, 3, 4, 5 (small tear), 7-9, 11 (crease), 12, 14/20 (no 16), and essentially complete to 1976, including all coil singles, and extra shades of the Large and Small Queens including a dated 3c LQ on laid paper, as well as tagged stamps. Back of the book is equally comprehensive, with complete airs, special delivery, dues, war tax (with types, shades), registration as well as G and O.H.M.S. overprints. Some of the early imperforates may not have four margins, a few stamps are marked as having creases, and there are some obviously faulty stamps here and there (mostly thinned) which have not been counted (inscribed N/C in album). Some of the other stamps could use a good bath to wash off the heavy hinges, otherwise overall fine or better, with many pages scanned online. Catalogue value is for regular stamps and back of the book up to about 1951 only. 1212 og/nh 4/703 imageMint Collection in a Hingeless Lighthouse Album, 1852-1976, starts off strong with a #4 (no gum), 7 (plate proof), 8 (no gum), 9 (og), set of First Cents (no #16), complete Large Queens (with many extra shades and papers), complete Small Queens with shades, printings, etc., then complete to the end, including a few extra shades of Edwards, Admirals, as well as all coil singles. The back of the book is also complete as per Lighthouse pages and includes shades and papers of the early dues, first Special Delivery issue (three NH shades), Dies of the War Tax issues, and Registration to the 8c. Most of the collection is of good quality, even though there are several regummed stamps in the beginning (these marked in pencil on pages) plus a few that have no gum, and there are only a few with obvious faults that have not been counted (also indicated as N/C on pages). 1213 O/og/nh 14/1338 imageCollection of Mint in Two Lighthouse Hingeless Albums, 1859 to 1991, in slipcases, beginning with the First Cents issue (one 1c) and following with a selection of early issues - Large Queens (½c x 2, 15c) and Small Queens (½c, 1c, 2c, 3c, 5c x 2, 6c x 2, 8c, 20c and 50c), a short set of the Jubilees (½c to 50c), Maple Leaf complete basic sets of Maple Leaf and Numerals and most Edwards (missing only the 20c and 50c). From Admirals onwards, there is a good representation of basic issues, including some coils, mostly fine and previously hinged. We noted Scott #126a and 128a (in imperforate-horizontal pairs) and a very good representation of back of the book including air mails, air mail special delivery, postage due, special delivery, registration, war tax, and a solid representation of 4-hole OHMS perfins. A very clean collection, it has been catalogued as mint, fine for basic issues and back of the book to 1950 (Unitrade $10,730) plus approximately $200 in face value from 1950-1991. We did not check for papers, shades or varieties. There is also an owner-identified block of four of the 1992 "Canada in Space" issue with two space shuttle holograms showing higher orbit than usual as well as a 2008 Unitrade Specialized catalogue. Rounding out this collection is a 1993 Canada Post Annual Collection, along with a few souvenir sheets, booklets, blocks of four and loose stamps with total face value of over $210 (42c to $5 denominations) and empty Lighthouse Hingeless supplements for 1992 through 1996. 1214 O/og/nh 14/2183 imageCollection of Canada Mint and Used in Four Lighthouse Albums, 1859 to 2006, with stamps mounted in clear or black mounts. The collection begins with a one-page tribute to the world's first stamp - a good used GB Penny Black (K-A with red Maltese cross postmark) then continues with some back of the book (air mail, special delivery, war tax, postage due International Reply Coupons), followed by Cents (x5) Large Queens (x10), Small Queens (x10), Jubilees (½c to 50c) and full Leafs, Numerals, Edwards and Québecs. All early issues are used, some with heavy postmarks and some with faults. It is then about half full from Admirals through the mid 1940s with more used than mint, though there is a fine mint hinged Bluenose. There is a high degree of completion and mostly mint with many being never hinged from the mid 1940s onwards, including duplication of some album pages and homemade pages that contain matched sets of plate blocks or additional souvenir sheets and some FDCs and commemorative event covers. Face value after 1950 is $755 for denominations of 20c and over only. The collection is very neat and clean, though we note a bit of water damage on the edges of some pages in one album, which includes items from 2003, noted for the record; only a few FDCs were affected by the moisture. An excellent starter collection or to fill gaps in an existing one, also good catalogue value for dealers or resellers. See photos for an overview of the earlier material. Some of the earlier issues are faulty, though we noted many clear c.d.s. and some RPO postmarks on Jubilees, Leafs, Numerals and Admirals, though not checked carefully by us. We note a double-side black stock sheet of the 29c 1986 Christmas stamp with a good number of the better perforation ($3 each used), some CNR and other private perfins and war tax stamps. The lot is rounded out by three Canadian Wildlife Conservation stamps used on permit, a file folder of federal revenues including bill stamps, excise, customs duty, etc. and about 50 Newfoundland stamps.
