Mostly all are to the United States but also note mail to Trinidad, the U.K. and St Pierre & Miquelon. Also a number of U.S. incoming examined covers. We noted one oddball: a cover from Hamilton to London Ontario which was opened and resealed, as well as an FECB corner card cover from the Toronto Office. Note items up to 10 points in Burrows "British Empire Civil Censorship Devices, WWII, Section 7 Canada and Newfoundland" (available from B.N.A.P.S. book dept.). Some have minor faults, still overall very fine. 1023 CVR   image1941 Trans Atlantic Air Mail Army P.O. England $1.80 Rate Cover, franked with the $1 Château de Ramezay, 50c Vancouver Harbour and #s 241 & 243 to pay the 6x 30c per oz. rate. Addressed to Royal Army Medical Corps., mailed Kingston MAY.29.1941 and arrived at A.P.O. S.C.I. in the UK on JUN.9. Wood with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank. 90c clipper rate paid by 50c Vancouver Harbour and two #243. Faint "Opened / By / Censor" handstamp at bottom right applied at Hong Kong. Some minor creases and opening faults, scarce.

Also includes two "Central Camp Petawawa / Ont." c.d.s. cancels in picture postcards from AUG.13.1907 and JUL.26.1909. 1026 CVR   image1917 Canadian Airman with Royal Naval Air Service Cover to Winnipeg, has a "CEN / 9 SQ / SOR" Dover Patrol censor handstamp in red at top left. Sent "On Active Service" by Flt. Lt. Joan P. Hales (who was later killed in action) on AUG.28.1918 as a Naval Air Squadron, they were under the command of the rear Admiral, Dover. The cover comes with a long and interesting letter inside. Scarce and very fine.

1027 CVR/PC   imageGroup of 7 Covers and Cards from Canadians in the Royal Flying Corps, includes items from Squadron 5, 11, 29, 45, 66, as well as Royal Naval Air Station Westgate, plus a postcard headed Vendome France, but mailed at Paris. There is a good variety of censor handstamps, including a triangular "Passed naval Censor. Most have minor creases, but overall condition is very fine, with previous owner's prices on 5 of the items totaling $590. A scarce group. 1028 CVR   image1916 Killed in Action Cover with its Ambulance Cover Used to Return to Sender, mailed Saskatoon on OCT.11.1916 to Lieut. Acheson serving with the Canadian Army in France. Manuscript "Killed in Action" with office signature. Also a small rectangular handstamp reading "R.E. (S.R.) / A.P.S." in purple and a "3" in small circle on back, also in purple. Returned to Canada and received at Ottawa Dead Letter Office on DEC.26.1916 (c.d.s. on back) and sent back to sender on JAN.2.1917 in an O.H.M.S. Dead Letter Office Ambulance cover. 1029 CVR   image1918 Damaged by Immersion in Sea Water Soldiers Letter to Québec, Military Honour envelope was on board the S.S. Kenliworth Castle when it almost sank in the English Channel after the ship collided with a convoy destroyer. The collision detonated 2 depth charges and caused significant damages. The ship was towed to Plymouth Sound and beached and the mail (including this one) was salvaged, dried and sent on to destination. 1031 CVR   imageGroup of 6 German Prisoner of War Covers from Camps 132 and 133 in Western Canada, 1942-1945, includes 3 items from Camp 132 at Medicine Hat, a 1942 P.O.W. postcard from Camp 133 at Ozada. This was a temporary tent camp, used until the Lethbridge Camp was built. Also 2 letter sheets from Lethbridge Camp 133. 2 of the pieces are from members of the Luftwaffe, with the balance army. One letter sent airmail with 30c postage paid, other 5 sent postage free, all with "Examined by Censor" or 'Examined by D.B." straight line censor handstamps. All with different censor numbers. 1032 CVR/PC   image1916-1918 Canadian Prisoner of War Correspondence, of 9 P.O.W. cards from a W.E. Carr, of the 28th Canadian Regiment. Five of the cards are to family in Verdun, Québec, the other four are to people in England. Cards are from German P.O.W. camp #s 2 and 8, and have various camp and censor markings. 1033 CVR   image1946 Toronto to Tashme, BC, mailed Toronto on MAY.23.1946 franked 7c airmail and addressed to Point Roberts Washington State (duplex on back), forwarded to Vancouver (c.d.s. on back), then forwarded to Tashme, BC (MAY.29.1946 c.d.s. on back). The cover contains contemporary newspaper clippings and is part of an original correspondence to Japanese Internment Camp at Tashme (RF D). 1034 CVR   image1945 Facing Slip from Prisoner of War Camp 70 at Fredericton / Ripples NB, card is addressed to Superintendent / Fredericton Post Office / NB, with a Fredericton receiver and a "Canada Int. OP. / Censored Crown over 5" circular handstamp. Censor 5 is known at the Fredericton camp. There is a pencil note below the card that this was a gift from the Fredericton Postmaster. Scarce and very fine.
