1102 CVR   image1817 Stampless Folded Letter Niagara to Gananaqui River, mailed by James Brackenridge from Niagara U. Canada (belt buckle type of datestamp JULY 28 1817) to Joel Stone at Gananaqui River. Stone is the recognized founder of the town of Gananoque. The letter describes the purchase of some land in Burford and is rated "1N3½" corrected to "1N2" and is endorsed by Stone as being an "The Attorneys arrogant answer to my letter to him...". Very fine and an interesting precursor letter mailed just before there was a post office in Gananoque. (Scan a) (Scan b) (All Scans)
