Lot 3454 - Carson City, Utah Territory Straight Line Cover Rare straight line cover from Carson City, U.T. dated July 21, 1861. Cover is in nice condition. Two hand canceled 10 cent greens. Carson City (and Nevada) were part of Utah Territory until Nevada Territory was created on March 2nd, 1861. This cover is still using the Utah Territory cancel even though NT was established 4 months earlier. Est. $800-1,500....Est. $800-1,500 Sold for US$ 800

Welcome to our Spring 2020 auction.The philatelic portion of this sale is from the John Reynolds Collection of Fresno, California. Mr. Reynolds was an inveterate collector of all things relating to air mail history through covers, and all things California. The philatelic portion of the sale held in Session Three on Saturday contains hundreds of US and worldwide (particularly Canada) first flight cover lots, zeppelin mail, trans-oceanic flights, California postal history (particularly Central Valley). Reynolds was also a collector of Pioneer post cards, the first of the "picture" post cards, c1897-1905ish.
