impression of the handstamp which was issued to the island in Oct 1951 in preparation of the establishment of a Post Office, the marking is at the top of a letter along with a Tristan 2 SP 56 cds (letter is to a collector describing the 1956
Pictorial issue), accompanied by an official OHBMS parcel tag addressed to the island's Administrator, Very Fine, only a few examples of the straightline handstamp exist (Image 1)

islanders' houses and brought away any portable items belonging to the residents. In addition, a total of four letters written and waiting to be posted were found. These had stamps added on board the ship and were stamped with the Commanding

Fremont, Ohio of Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th President. The LSD loaded supplies during January 1963 and sailed, on 15 February for her second good-will tour which lasted until late May. The ship steamed over 21,000 miles and visited nine countries,
