An old-time collection on vintage pages for issues to the early 20th century, with many hundreds of stamps all one of a kind including scarce classics and complete series that are not often seen, plenty with signatures. Highlights include Benin only missing one stamp for completion inc. 1892s complete with used 1ct, 2cts, 30cts and 75cts, the rest mint, with lots of signatures including the 75cts and 1fr signed three times each, then the 1892 surcharges 1ct on 5cts and 40cts on 15cts mint (#16/17), the latter signed, followed by "Golfe de Benin" navigation and commerce complete mint (#20/32). Then excellent Cameroun with scarce "Corps Expeditionnaire Franco-Anglais" overprints of 1915 complete mint (#101/115, the 1fr unused) followed by the 1916 'Occupation Francaise du Cameroun' overprints, again complete mint (#116/129) all with signatures except the 15cts dull violet and olive green Leopard which is used on piece with inverted overprint. This is a wonderful series mostly free of the toning normally affecting these issues. Then French Congo with five of the 1891 surcharges inc. 5cts on 20cts red on green used with signature (#6) and 10cts on 25cts inverted o/p (#8a) as well as navigation and commerce complete mint, Diego Suarez with a good range of early issues with the majority expertised, Somali Coast (Djibouti) including the 1894 25cts on 2cts unused (#2) and 1902 40cts on 2fr gray brown and carmine mint (#26) plus a partial double overprint on #31 mint, leading on to Gabon with the 1886 50cts on 15cts blue surcharge used with attractive cds cancel with small faults yet a highly collectible example (#4), 1904 navigation and commerce complete mint 5cts on 20cts red on green used, signed (#6) and 10cts on 25cts inverted o/p (#8a) used, again navigation and commerce complete mint (#18/34), as well as the 1910 "Congo Francais" pictorials complete mint, the extreme corner of the 5fr thin otherwise a very attractive series (#33/48). Guadeloupe follows with 1884 postage dues complete (#J6/J12), 1884 and 1889 surcharges complete mint (#1/9), o/ps on peace and commerce complete mint (#14/26, 30cts used), 1891 30cts Ceres small faults and 1893s complete mint. Then further good material in French Guiana with surcharges on Ceres heads and 1892 o/ps on peace and commerce complete (#18/30), excellent New Caledonia inc. 1892 40cts imperf mint (#18) and peace and commerce complete mint (#23/33), Obock 1892 surcharges mint or used to 75cts on 1fr (#21/30) through to a fabulous complete run of the 1893/1894 pictorials (#44A/64) including the 25fr superb used with blue cds and the scarce Obock 50fr with extraordinary shift of centre with a substantial part well outside the main design - an extremely rare exhibition item seldom seen if at all. The French Post Offices abroad also have good material with POs in China 1902/03 complete mint (#34/44), POs in Zanzibar with 71/2a on 75cts superb used (#9), 1894 surcharges mint to 5a on 50cts on 20cts (#12/15), Alexandria inc. mint 60m on 2fr signed and 150m on 5fr crease (#44/45), POs in Morocco first series complete mint with the 2 pesetas top value signed (#1/8), 1902/09s complete mint (#11/18, #20/22), etc. as well as Tunisia with a most attractive complete page of coats of arms and postage due perfins to 5fr all mint except the first 5fr violet cds used and signed (#8). An extremely impressive old-fashioned collection, stored away for many decades and only very recently brought to light. An interesting parallel mint and used collection of well over 2000 stamps housed in a Scott specialty album, well filled, virtually all one of a kind with the vast majority in complete series. Highlights include French Guiana with 1887 25cts on 30cts Ceres used showing no 'f' after '0' variety (#7b), 2fr violet on rose mint (#50), Guadeloupe with good completion from #1 onwards inc. 1884 postage dues with 20cts and 30cts used (#J9/J10), St. Pierre & Miquelon similarly with good classics inc. 1885 5cts on 4cts used (#10), through 1924/27 surcharges mint and used complete, Martinique starting with about two dozen of the early surcharges going on to good later surcharges as well, inc. the 1924 25cts on 50cts red mint (#118), etc. This is followed by New Caledonia 1933 Paris-Noumea series complete mint (182/207), then extensive Indo-China with few empty spaces inc. #2 used, the navigation and commerce complete to 5fr used (#3/21), 1907s complete to 10fr used (#41/58), 1919 surcharges to 2pi on 5fr used (#81), through to officials, parcel posts etc. A pleasing collector's collection in uniformly excellent condition, please inspect carefully sleepers likely.
A fantastic collection of the general issues for French Colonies on vintage album pages for issues to the early 20th century, extremely attractive with virtual completion 1859 to 1906. Highlights include 1865 eagle 80cts carmine rose on pinkish mint (#6) with large margin at bottom showing part of adjoining stamp, the scarce 5cts green Napoleon cds used, four margins again with part of adjoining stamp at bottom (#8), the 10cts bister Ceres very attractive with four even margins and full original gum (#9), then the 1873 large numeral Ceres issues with 80cts rose on pinkish unused (#23) again four margins very wide at top, with fresh appearance and good color, followed by a beautiful complete mint series of the 1877/78 peace and commerce imperfs all with four margins and gorgeous colors (#24/36), similarly the 1878/80 imperfs inc. mint 1879 10cts black on lavender with sidewalk margins showing side of sheet at left and adjoining stamp at bottom (#41) and 25cts black on red cds used also with four margins (#44). The collection concludes with an impressive third page with complete mint perf peace and commerce (#46/59) and postage dues (#J1/J22). This collection has only recently come to light after being stored away for many decades. A three volume collection, comprising Independent countries of Africa in two Scott specialty albums and Monaco in a Lighthouse hingeless album. The Scott albums are well-filled with hundreds of complete series of the 1950s and 1960s, often parallel mint and used, from Algeria through to Upper Volta with souvenir sheets and back of the book and including better series from the first years of Independence, for example Republic of Cameroons 1961 airpost surcharges mint inc. both types on the £,1 on 500fr top value with the better type mint never hinged (#C40a). There are also interesting items outside the printed spaces as well, for example locals, emergency o/ps for military mail, plus material lying between the pages waiting to be incorporated in the collection, with some earlier seen inc. Algeria 1930 semi-postals complete mint (#B14/B26). Also on old quadrille pages St. Pierre & Miquelon inc. 1909 to 1927 complete mint (#79/131) and lots of France Libre overprints inc. Reunion complete series mint (#178/222, C14/C17), etc. The Monaco collection has many hundreds of stamps from the 19th century onwards, again mostly in complete mint series, inc. 1938 10fr Prince Louis II souvenir sheet on card, 1939 semi-postals and 1940 red cross semi-postal surcharges complete mint (#B26/B50, toned), 1948 Bosio complete mint (#209/213, CB11/CB14), etc, etc. An excellent balance of collections, full of potential with much more here than described, please inspect.
Unusual one-volume collection of 100s of mint and used stamps, mostly 19th century, presented on quadrille pages, with many used on piece, especially the navigation and commerce types, as well as strength in earlier surcharged issues, on both definitives and postage dues. The collection begins with the general issues for the French Colonies, including the 1859/65 eagles first series complete mint and used to 80cts carmine rose (#1/6), then 1ct Napleon imperf mint (#7), 80cts used four margins (#15) and a range of the peace and commerce imperfs and perfs, followed by the general colonies Ceres imperfs and further peace and commerce issues specifically used in Martinique with attractive cancels including blue Saint Pierre cds on 1886 25cts pair on piece (#54), "MQE" lozenges on 5cts imperf strip of 3 (#31). Then Martinique herself starting with 1886/91 surcharges with over a dozen inc. 1888 5cts on 4cts (#11) 1891/92 surcharges on postage dues complete inc. red 15cts on 20cts black used x6 (#28), 1892 15cts surcharges in mint pairs (#30), then navigation and commerce including combinations on piece, multiples, etc. through to 20th century inc. inverted surcharges on pictorials 05cts on 1ct Martinique woman used on piece and mint (#105b), 10cts on 2cts mint and used on piece (#106b), 25cts on 15cts used (#107b) and the double surcharge 05cts on 1ct used on piece (#105a) and 25cts on 15cts used (#107a) etc. Lots of potential here, especially on the postmarks, much more to discover with many sleepers no doubt present. Please inspect carefully.
About 150 mostly mint stamps, housed on Scott album pages with few empty spaces and with extra blank pages for the multiples and varieties, including many attractive numbered gutter pairs, blocks and "millesimes". Highlights include the #1 5cts on 35cts in mint and used blocks of four, navigation and commerce to 1fr, 1904/06 series to 2fr mint (35cts used), then the 1907s complete mint to 10fr Cambodian woman (#41/58), surcharges and postage dues of 1912 with numbered gutter pairs and blocks, with the postage dues series of 12 to 40cts, 1919s with the 14cts on 35cts closed "4" variety mint never hinged in block of four with normal (#74a), plus 4cts on 10cts top margin gutter block of four numbered "0" with upper right stamp showing wide space between "4" and "cents" variety, also not listed in Scott. Other material present is the 1927 series complete mint to 2pi (#115/138) and back of the book with the red cross semi-postals in mint blocks. Catalog figures have been added by the collector on various occasions, however even the most recent are out of date so please disregard. Condition generally tip-top with very fresh colors, please inspect this in depth collection.
A last minute entry housed in 5 well filled volumes, replete with superb used, never hinged often in multiples and above all excellent postal history, commercial and first day covers. , All the good commemoratives are here from the first issue of the 1949 industries, followed by the "stamp on stamp" including fdc and blocks of 4 mint never hinged, as well as useful commercial covers. , , A similar pattern with the von Stephan including most unusual block of 4 registered cover for the correct rate to the US, the 1950 Bach in various forms, all the "helper of mankind" series often in mint multiple blocks superb, as well as good postal history, the Lubecks in every which way, the NBA, the posthorns with a few dozen se-tenants all different including "X" ,interpanneau pairs and "X", similarly "X" in the middle, "X" at the ends, pairs and trios through to further posthorns inc 90pf single usage on cover among others, followed by the IFRABAs again in every which way including unlisted Cinderella that we could find nowhere, even in Michel, through to further early material 1950s onwards with no empty spaces whatsoever. The catalog figure in Michel must easily run into 5 figures and certainly most of this is in the first 5 years. , In order to appreciate how good this is, it should be viewed. It is one of the best lots of its type that we have offered in years with tip top quality throughout.
Minkus album well-filled with over 2000 mint and used stamps, from the 19th century States, through to the Third-Reich, as well as WWII occupations, followed by Allied occs, West Germany and unified Germany through to the 2000s. Highlights include Bavaria range of imperf numerals including impressive pairs and strip of three, the perf arms inc. 18kr red with the good watermark used, through to King Ludwig III high values used, leading on to Thurn and Taxis with unusual extra material again in the Southern District with unused block of 12 1kr green rouletted, etc. Then into the German Empire beginning with a useful range of 18 different eagles, followed by crammed pages of early 20th century and inflation issues inc. Germania se-tenants, "Dfutsches" error, etc, to the Third Reich inc. regular zeppelins complete and Polar flight 1mk used, trains, costumes, buildings, boats, etc. all to the 40pf purples. Then Olympic souvenir sheets mint, Hitler souvenir sheets with the two rouletted types mint, the o/ps on automobiles complete used, etc. leading on to West Germany including 1949/1952 helpers of mankind semi-postals complete used etc, as well as a few pages of back of the book with revenues, unusual locals for Hessen, Sachsen, Sierck, Wildbad, etc, etc. Completely uncataloged and a worthwhile overall collection, dealers put this on your list of lots to view.
Safe Dual albums with 1000s of ,mint and used, ,virtually all one of a kind neatly presented from an estate originating in Europe. The collection is completely uncatalogued and represents a good all round showing of many , areas of Germany and related, such as the Saar including the first 1mk o/p (signed Borek), through to a study of the Germania issues in general, as well as the , industry defins to 5fr on , to the , early 1950s, again with various different series. Also present German States with one volume devoted to Bavaria from the first imperfs onwards, similarly with Wurttemberg. Then another album with the rest of German States with 100s of stamps from Baden through to Thurn and Taxis including non Scott listed material (and probably some additional material not even listed in Michel).  ,Another good album is the occupation zones especially WWII with a good range of Bohemia and Moravia, Alsace, Luxemburg, Italy and Latvia and especially General Gouvernement , issues from the occupation of Poland through to 4 volumes of West Germany, , from the first industry series of 1949 onwards, broadly comprehensive with occasional blocks of 4, as well as 3 albums of Berlin and allied occupations with the latter well filled for these issues. There is much more here than described, please view carefully as there is plenty more to discover.
