H.R. Harmer GPN, Inc. Sale - 3035

The "ERIVAN" Collection of United and Confederate States Postal History Part III - August 7, 2020

The third sale of the “ERIVAN” Collection of United and Confederate States Postal History continues on the momentum of the first two sales. Replete with unique and rare items, this catalogue includes wonderful selections of both US and Confederate Postmasters’ Provisionals, Western Express covers, locals and carriers, fancy cancellations, and much more. While it is inherently difficult to select highlights from a sale such as this one, we would like to point out just a few of the most spectacular items:
  • The unique complete “Lockport” postmaster provisional on cover, being offered for the first time since 1989 and one of the greatest gems of American philately (Lot 4) The unique “solo” franking of the $2 green Pony Express stamp, one of the rarest of all Pony Express covers (Lot 54)
  • The unique Port Lavaca, Texas Confederate postmaster provisional, which has not been offered at auction since the 1956 sale of the Caspary Collection (Lot 91)
  • The famous Waterbury, Connecticut “African American Profile” cancellation, unique on cover, a spectacular cover (Lot 114)
