190   image1876-1909, a group of Exposition tickets, including an 1876, United States International Exhibition Ticket, printed by Philadelphia Bank Note Co., the Centennial International Exhibition of 1876, the first official World's Fair in the United States, was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from May 10 to November 10, 1876, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, a lovely example of ticket number 74952 Red Serial Number with Red Overprint Fifty Cents. Also a colorful set of four plus two duplicates of 1893 World's Columbian Exposition tickets (printed by the American Bank Note Co.), the first fair held in 1893 in Chicago, Illinois, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's voyage to America. Plus a World Columbian Expo Chicago Manhattan Day 1893 Ticket Stub Detached with stamp on reverse.

In the United States there had been a spirited competition for this exposition among the country's leading cities. Chicago was chosen in part because it was a railroad center and in part because it offered a guarantee of $10 million. Plus a 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition ticket, the acronym AYP or AYPE, was a world's fair held in Seattle in 1909 publicizing the development of the Pacific Northwest. It was originally planned for 1907 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Klondike Gold Rush, but the organizers learned of the Jamestown Exposition being held that same year and rescheduled.

The fairgrounds were hosted on an undeveloped portion of the present day campus of the University of Washington. A unique offering of three distinct American Expositions! (Image) (Image2) (Image3)
