It was cancelled with octagonal datestamp "CONF. ARGENTINE SAINTONGE 12/MAY/1865" along "8" handstamp (single rate). On back it bears several transit marks and arrival of 17/JUN. The cover was carried by steamer Saintonge DIRECTLY to Europe. With this trip, due to the sinking of steamer BEARN, the Saintonge left the LIGNE DE LA PLATA, being replaced by steamer CARMEL.
