MAIL OF SAILORS OF THE CRUISER ADMIRAL GRAF SPEE at first "interned" and then "prisoners" of war in several camps in Argentina: Airmail cover sent by Mrs. Emma Pilz in Frankenstein on 26/NO/1940 to her son Erich Pilz in Buenos Aires,
addressed to the German Embassy in B.Aires, which forwarded it to the "Club Alemán" in San Juan, where Mr Pilz was interned at the time. Originally it was franked with 1.75M., but 2 stamps are missing, very rare (very few re-routed covers are known),

Authorization dated 12/NO/1942 to sailor (corporal) J. Klinkmüller to leave the internment camp on Martín García island to Buenos Aires, carrying a suitcase. He was granted these permits to visit his girlfried (later his wife), many of
the sailors interned in camps in Argentina met people from the German community, who visited and helped them, and a good number of the sailors married Argentine women, and after being repatriated, they returned to Argentina and settled here! (Image)
